Having a live band perform at your gathering is certain to produce a remarkable night and get everyone moving. There are lots of different kinds of bands that you could book for your party but if you want an excellent atmosphere and people dancing all night long then you need one of the many great Ceili bands to perform for you. Ceilidh bands perform traditional country music for people to get up and dance to as well as some songs, jokes and storytelling included for good measure. The songs performed by Ceili bands can vary depending on where you live so Irish Ceili bands may have a different style from Scottish Ceilidh bands but the end result will be the same-a great time for all.

A Ceili band will come complete together with a caller to instruct the dancers in the steps that they should carry out to every tune. He will start out by giving a short introduction for the up coming song and talk about the steps which go with it and call out directions when the song is being played. For the initial few songs that are performed the steps will probably be fairly straightforward but as the evening wears on the music and the steps can become faster and faster.

Ceili bands perform songs in the traditional Celtic style while barn dance bands and Hoedown bands have their roots in a different tradition completely. Even so there are lots of similarities between the two with each of them based on mostly traditional music with a caller calling the steps.

You can have a Ceili or barn dance wherever where there is enough space for people to dance and for the band to set up their instruments. Callers bands and wedding ceilidh bands will provide their PA system and caller all you need to do is find a suitable location and fill it with your family and friends and have a great time.

Now for a different topic which is close to my heart. Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr., is an American rapper, record producer, and actor.  As one of producer Dr. Dre’s most distinguished protégés, Snoop Dogg is best known for his laid-back, slurred, and rhythmically-complex lyrical delivery. To date, Snoop Dogg has sold over 17.6 million copies.

In his early years, as a member of a local Crips gang in Long Beach, Snoop Dogg was in and out of jail.  In his desire to make something of himself, he began making homemade rap tapes with his cousin Nate Dogg and best friend Warren G, stepbrother of Dr. Dre.

Snoop Dogg would eventually collaborate with Dr. Dre on his debut-solo album, The Chronic.  Snoop Dogg’s contributions to the album garnered him much exposure and undoubtedly helped propel his debut album, Doggystyle, to enter U.S. music charts at #1.  The album is noted as being the first debut album ever to top the charts.

Snoop Dogg’s second album, Tha Doggfather, released in November 1996, did not achieve the same commercial success as his debut album, partly due to the fading of gangsta rap’s popularity, which stemmed from the death of Snoop’s friend, Tupak Shakur and the racketeering indictment of Death Row co-founder Suge Knight.

Since then, Snoop Dogg released several more albums, including Da Game Is to Be Sold Not to Be Told, No Limit, Top Dogg, The Last Meal, Paid the Cost to Be da Bo$$, R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta) The Masterpiece, and the Blue Carpet Treatment have gone platinum. Snoop remains one of the most recognizable symbols of the Hip Hop genre.
